From other vids I've seen, you could also get $1 tooth brush pack for each color. Then dip and brush your finger over it. One way to not accidentally mix the colors from contact with whatever is on your skin, there are gloves just for a single finger (or cut out fingers from a single glove) and you can swap those out between colors. I've also seen cat whiskers used for making lines through colors, without moving the rest of the water in the pan. Just a suggestion for any who'd like it. <3

Thanks. Good tutorial. I had done a couple of times, but your cardboard/toothpick comb was genius. That will definitely be past of my supplies henceforth. Wish you had used more metallic paints. I think they are the icing on the cake for marbling.

Aside from commenting on the rudeness of others, i wanted to ask a (probably obvious) question. How do you rinse the work off? Do you spray it, or put it in a water bath like the dip, or another method? The vid was fun, made me want to make some as photo frame inserts.

I would absolutely LOVE it if you made a tutorial on the enchanter magazine, a possible diy of the letter that ron sends to harry in the beginning of book 4, an invite to funerals (such as for nymphadora and lupin), and a full diy for umbridge’s letter to mcgonnagle (with an envelope!) also in a new printables volume, a collection of potion labels and owl post stamps would be so cool!

If you didn’t feel confident in sewing the signatures together, could you possibly cut all the pages loose and then glue down one side instead?

The streaks are when you take it out and wipe it it rinse it i think, because i struggle with a similar issue

Alum is still in use as deodorant, it tightens the pores and reduces sweat. It won't hurt your skin unless you have an open wound and even then it is also used to stench small cuts like when you're shaving. It stings but it won't damage your skin. It is a traditional mordant in dying fibers so it makes sense to treat paper with it... 😊

I had a different idea about the white streaks, that they were caused by the way dragged the paper through but lingered in some spots while you changed the direction of pull or, maybe, let the pull slow a bit. I have never marbled anything, just watched your process carefully as I did as an engineer when I analyzed processes in the auto industry. None of the expert commenters mentioned timing. Maybe my idea is off-base. But I loved the outcome. especially the feathering so I would like to try it. I'm not keen on surrendering some of my baking sheets; maybe I can find something else. Great work! I'm now a subscriber.

I can't find a comment of someone else saying this, but perhaps I didn't scroll far enough. You said to be careful with the alum (think "alumni" minus the "ni" and more emphasis on the front syllable), don't get it in your eyes, don't eat it. I promise you that you have eaten it. 😂 Alum is a pickling spice. In this instance it is working as a mordant, a type of fixative, which is a secondary property. Or...I guess not, if you think about what pickling is!

If you mix 1 part glycerin to 2 parts water, it thickens the water slightly and helps the glitter float about, suspended in the water rather then a quick swirl then float or sink.

A loom is something you weave on . Alum is quite different.

I love this so much and am glad I found you - thank you for your hard work! I am trying to make these, and each time I print the program, it comes out in black and white. I have checked that I have print in colour on my settings, and that there is colour ink in the printer. Any suggestions? Thank you

Thank you for showing how to get the base water for the marbling, and hiw to treat the paper to prevent run off. MUCH APPRECIATED! I watched a ton of videos on silk scarf prints, and marbling paper but no one explained how to prevent the paint from dripping right off so Thank you again! There are some really cool techniques you can watch how to make the patterns.
